Veteran filmmaker Vijaya Bapineedu (86) breathed his last today at his residence in Hyderabad. Vijaya Bapineedu’s original name was Gutta Bapineedu Chowdary. Prior to film making he served as an editor for an entertainment magazine Vijaya.

Bapineedu mostly worked with mega star Chiranjeevi and Shobhan Babu. He directed several block buster action films such as Maga Maharaju, Khaidi No.786, Gang Leader, and Magadheerudu.

Vijaya Bapineedu was born on September 22, 1936 to Seetha Ramaswamy and Leelavathy in Chataparru village near Eluru. He has graduated (B.A. in Mathematics) from CRR College (Eluru).

Overall, Vijaya Bapineedu directed 22 films and his last directorial was Kodukulu in 1998. He attended Chiranjeevi’s reentry film Khaidi No 150 promotional event where he expressed his desire to direct Chiru another time. Unfortunately, he passed away before fulfilling his wish.
