Filmmakers claim that they got inspiration from the real life horrendous honor killings. There may be some fact in it and in future too it may happen unless the society undergoes a sea change.
Even in Bollywood, Priyadarshan made a film Akrosh on honor killing. The Ajay Devgn, Akshay Khanna starrer though didn’t succeed at the box office, it connected well with the people.
Vishwanath's Saptapadi too revolved around honor killing. Though the films got good name, they didn’t provide profits. However the earlier mentioned films shook the box office.
