Legendary Singer Was Underpaid

Legendary singer Ghantasala who was renowned for his melodious voice, however was extremely shy in nature. He never said NO to anyone and used go according to their wishes. Thus he couldn't get more remuneration for his talent.

Annapurna Studious head Dukkipati Madhusudhana Rao always used to be of the opinion that though the filmmakers made huge profits due to Ghantasala, he was getting underpaid. He used to tell other producers, that they should only take the initiative and pay Ghantasala handsomely. 

“One day after Ghantasala finished recording a song for Annapurna banner and he was paid Rs 1500 (the highest remuneration at that time) for the song. I had told him that, ‘I will inform all the producers who I know should pay the same remuneration. Don’t hesitate to take Rs 1500 for each song. Demand without any shyness,’" informed Dukkipati.
