Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh Is A National Level Footballer
Journey of newly sworn in Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh is truly inspirational because growing from the level of a National level football player to a journalist and then as a CM isn’t that easy.
Though there are charges of horse trading and split in Congress party, finally BJP led Biren Singh formed the government in North Eastern state of Manipur today administering the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Najma Heptulla at Imphal.
After playing football at National level, Biren Singh then took up journalism and later became a key member in Congress before joining BJP in 2016. He was elected to Assembly from a regional Democratic Revolutionary People Party which was later merged into Congress in 2004 Assembly elections. Using the experience of being a sportsman, Biren Singh also served Manipur as Youth Affairs and Sports Minister.
