Two Remakes Speedunnodu, Sahasam Fail

Sahasam, Speedunnodu: Remake Failures Of The Week

As we analyzed in the past about contrasting tastes of Telugu and Tamil audience makes it quite difficult and dangerous to select the remakes in both ways. For example, the drop in revenues of ‘Speedunnodu’ remade from a hit Tamil film ‘Sundara Pandiyan’ needs no big logics to understand. It was almost impossible on the part of Bheemaneni Srinivas Rao to recreate the emotion which was sensed in the original.

Looks like, for the same week and same release date there is a counterpart for ‘Speedunnodu’ in Kollywood in the name of ‘Sahasam’ from hero Prashanth. You got it right. This is a remake of Tollywood hit ‘Julayi’ from Allu Arjun and Trivikram Srinivas. Undoubtedly, it’s the writing talent in Trivikram and owning the character by Bunny delivered a hit film in Telugu.

Bought the remake rights for a fancy price, Prashanth’s father Thyagarajan produced ‘Sahasam’ on high budget under the direction of debutant Arun Raj Varma. Released on February 5, the film opened to weak reviews and stood as right example on how remakes fail? While the role was tailor made for Bunny’s energy and charm, Tamil version was said to be insensible on a relatively aged Prashanth.
