One of the all time best hits of tollywood, 'Lavakusha' was released on 29th March, 1963 and completed 50 years of its release on 29th March. Some of the interesting facts about the movie are as follows. 

* 'Lavakusha' was the first colour movie( Geva Colour) of tollywood.

* In 1934 a movie named 'Lavakusha' was released and the story was based on 'Uththra Rama Charitha'. NTR's 'Lavakusha' was the remake of that movie.

* It was Ghantasala's music that made the movie a rocking hit. Songs such as, 'Vinudu vinudu', 'Sri Ramuni charithamunu', 'Sandehinchakumamma', 'Ye nimishaaniki emijaruguno' ,' Ollanori maava' etc. have become evergreen hits. Many melodious slokas were also composed for this movie.

* The shoot of the movie was started in 1958 and the movie was released in 1963. The delay in shoot was due to the financial crisis of the producers. 

* Two directors worked for this movie and they were C.Pullaiah and his son CS Rao. 

* NTR and Anjali lived in their roles as lord Srirama and Sitadevi. The actors who played the roles of 'Lava' and 'Kusha' earned great reputation, as most part of the movie runs on their characters. Nagaiah showed great performance as Valmiki. 

* As of now, 12 movies were made based on the story of 'Lavakusha'. Balakrishna's 'Sriramarajyam' was the 12th movie. 

* 'Lavakusha' ran 100 days and 175 days in maximum number of centers.
