Do Chiru have any link with 35 Crores?

Income Tax Department raids on the houses of Chiranjeevi’s relatives cum industrialist Shiva Prasad Rao and Nanda Gopal in Chennai was breaking news. Today, the IT Sleuths have released an official Press Note regarding this raid on Chiranjeevi’s daughter Sushmita’s residence. As per the Note, the search resulted in unearthing of cash of Rs.35 Crores that was found kept in a bedroom in a house at Chennai. The cash was found neatly packed in 35 carton boxes with each containing Rs.1 Crore in denominations of Rs.500 and Rs.1000. In all, the total cash seizure was Rs.35.66 Crores. Besides the cash, promissory notes worth Rs.4 Crores were also seized. The total seizure of assets was Rs.39.66 Crores which is actually the unaccounted income. Sushmita is wife of Vishnu Prasad, who is the son of Shiva Prasad.

Media questioned Chiranjeevi on any sort of his connection with this cash. He answered, ‘all the allegations coming on me are politically motivated. In fact, I received Samman Award from Income Tax Department which is an honor for meritorious tax payers. My daughter or son-in-law has no connection with this raids. The issue is related to some of the distant relatives of my son-in-law.’
