Remake of 1970 blockbuster ‘Zanjeer’ with suitable changes made for current generation introducing Ramcharan as hero is going through legal troubles. Veteran script writers Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar have knocked the doors of judiciary demanding a royalty from producer Amit Mehra. Vexed by the continuous media support and the acts of the above two writers, here are Amit, Puneet and Sumeet (sons of original producer Late Prakash Mehra) have discussed on all the facts of ‘Zanjeer’ with a media agency.

‘We respect Salim and Javed Saab. That is why we remained silent. When they are pulling our father into discussion, this isn’t justified. They said that, our Production House made huge profits from ‘Zanjeer’ only because of their script, as if my father who was the director of film did not have any share of hard work. It sounds like we made money but did not pay them. They need to remember one thing and script of ‘Zanjeer’ was not the actual reason of success. At least three top heroes like Dev Anand, Raj Kumar and Dharmendra refused to do ‘Zanjeer’ because of faults in script. Coming to royalty for the writers on basis of proposed Copyright Law, this isn’t implemented till now,’ they said. Looks like ‘Zanjeer’ remake might get into further legal hassles as both the parties are remaining stubborn.
