Ranabaali Truth 2 Reveals Railway History In Colonial Rule
Ranabaali: Never Forget – The Truth Series continues with its second chapter, Truth 2: The History We Forgot, released on September 30. The Mythri Movie Makers documentary examines the British era railway network, questioning the popular narrative around its purpose and highlighting military, commercial and colonial interests behind its expansion.
The episode connects railway construction with the movement of Indian agricultural produce and raw materials toward ports and British controlled trade networks. Historical research confirms that railways served military requirements while also supporting resource extraction and commercial expansion. It also revealed that British colonial rule build railways with indian taxpayers money by Indian labour to extort indian resources like grain, spices out of the country to their land.
Truth 2 also links the railway story with the devastating Great Famine of 1876–78, which severely affected the Madras Presidency and surrounding southern regions. Research records major drought and crop failures, while studies note substantial wheat exports from India during the crisis. Railway records also document extensive grain traffic during the famine.
Ranabaali stars Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna under Rahul Sankrityan’s direction, with Mythri Movie Makers producing and T-Series presenting. The four part documentary continues with The Men We Forgot on October 2, while Ranabaali is scheduled worldwide on October 16, exploring colonial history through its period action narrative.
