Mini Super Star fails to repeat Chiru's hit

Super Star Rajinikanth’s son-in-law Dhanush is regarded now in Kollywood as Mini Super Star. He is delivering super hit films from last two years. This year he got the second release ‘Mappillai’ after the tremendous success of ‘Aadukalam’ in Sankranthi season. ‘Mappillai’ in English means ‘Son-in-Law’ which is a remake to 1989 Rajini’s hit film ‘Mappillai’ which is once again a free make to Chiranjeevi’s ‘Aththaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu.’

In 1989, it was Chiranjeevi who produced ‘Mappillai’ and now Dhanush as an ode to Rajini attempted the remake which had hit the screens last week with mixed openings. Hansika is the heroine while Manisha Koirala plays mother-in-law role which was actually done by Vani Sri in Telugu version. As reviewers underplayed the film, it might last for a maximum of 50 days. Dhanush failed to repeat Chiru and Rajini’s magic.
