Producer Gifts BMW To DC Trio

Arun Matheswaran directorial DC has emerged as a notable box office success following its August 7 theatrical release. The action drama, starring filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj in his acting debut, also features Wamiqa Gabbi and Sanjana Krishnamoorthy. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film has crossed the ₹100 crore worldwide milestone, driven by strong word of mouth.

The film’s success has now led to a special gesture from producer Kalanithi Maran. He congratulated director Arun Matheswaran, actor Lokesh Kanagaraj and music composer Anirudh Ravichander by presenting them with brand new BMW cars. The gesture celebrates the team’s contribution to DC, particularly its successful theatrical run and positive audience response.

DC presents a darker, action oriented interpretation of the Devdas inspired story, with Lokesh playing Devadas alongside Wamiqa Gabbi as Chandra. Arun Matheswaran’s screenplay and the performances received appreciation, while Anirudh’s music and background score became important talking points. The film which was made with 25 crore budget reportedly crossed ₹100 crore worldwide within weeks.

Beyond its commercial success, DC marks an important milestone for Lokesh Kanagaraj as he transitions from acclaimed filmmaker to lead actor. His physical transformation and performance attracted considerable attention, with reports revealing an intensive preparation process. The film is now streaming on Sun NXT, extending its reach beyond the successful theatrical journey.
