Rana New Theatre Venture

Rana Daggubati is preparing another business move by entering the theatrical exhibition space with 'The Assembly Rooms'. Known for exploring opportunities beyond acting, Rana has also backed films as a producer and supported distinctive storytelling. His latest venture reportedly focuses on intimate boutique theatres rather than conventional multiplexes, creating a different movie watching experience.

Unlike large multiplexes with hundreds of seats, The Assembly Rooms is planned as a boutique cinema format featuring smaller screens and approximately 50 to 80 seats. The concept is designed to feel more personal and comfortable, similar to visiting a premium café. Rana’s entrepreneurial approach combines entertainment, hospitality and cinema under one business model.

The first venue is reportedly being developed in Ooty under the name The Assembly Room Jimuty. Rana has also revealed plans for another location in Hyderabad, while Bengaluru could receive one or two venues eventually. The expansion could create a specialised platform for independent, alternative and content-driven films seeking theatrical opportunities.

Rana’s entrepreneurial journey has increasingly extended beyond conventional movie star responsibilities. Alongside acting and production, he has shown interest in building businesses connected to cinema and entertainment. The Assembly Rooms could therefore become more than another theatre chain, particularly if its intimate format helps smaller films find audiences. Its success will depend on execution.
