IAF veterans hail Operation Safed Sagar. Jimmy Shergill and Siddharth's webseries Operation Safed Sagar is getting streamed on Netflix fom 7 Aug 2026. The webseries is a tribute to the Indian Air Force's operations during the Kargil War.Oni Sen directed the film which is created by Abhijeet Singh Parmar and Kushal Srivastava.

According to the latest, the makers got a huge boost when IAF veterans hailed the webseries. Air Commodore Gaurav M Tripathi (retd), who said he had watched the first episode and was impressed by how the series recreated the world he had experienced.

"Yes, I know there are cinematic liberties, but the life and spirit has been so well captured," Tripathi wrote on X.

An X user who said they had grown up around an Air Force environment shared screenshots of the watches worn by the flying officers in the series. They pointed out that fighter pilots and Air Force personnel used Timex Expedition watches, praising the makers for getting even such small details right.

Air veteran and helicopter consultant Nitin Welde responded that such watches were issued to aircrew in the late 1990s. He also pointed to the importance of aircrew watches and goggles, describing both as an integral part of the life of aircrew.

Veteran fighter pilot Satyam Kushwaha also praised the series, describing it as "a job very well done".

Kushwaha said the series stood out because it was not simply recreating a war for entertainment. He had been posted to Pathankot when the Kargil War began and recalled how the conflict quickly became personal for Air Force personnel.

"Within days, war was no longer something we had studied or exercised for. It was happening around us," he wrote.

"It doesn’t need excessive chest-thumping or impossible flying manoeuvres to manufacture heroism. It allows professionalism, vulnerability, camaraderie, leadership and courage to speak for themselves," he said.

Squadron Leader Varlin Panwar (retd), who shared behind-the-scenes pictures from the sets, thanked the team that worked on the series over several years. She also said she had the opportunity to train and work with actors including Jimmy Sheirgill, Abhay Verma, Taaruk Raina, Mihir Ahuja and Siddharth.
