Percentage System Doubtful: New Panel Formed

Movie lovers cannot forget the controversy regarding exhibitors, distributors and producers over rental and percentage system in theatres.

This threatened to stall even the release of big films but with the intervention of Tollywood biggies and Mega Star Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan's Peddi release was facilitated without any obstacles.

Later everything was forgotten but now inside talk is the so called percentage system is becoming doubtful and Telugu Film Chamber formed a New Panel consisting of f Sunil Narang, Sashidhar Reddy, Sirish Reddy, Prassanna Kumar, Chadalavada Srinivasa Rao and Surender Reddy and it will be headed by veteran producer K L Narayana

The Film Chamber disbanded the earlier 21 member panel and instead formed a new 9 member panel. A leading exhibitor from Telangana says "We are doubtful about percentage system implementation",

He pointed "Few members have skipped few minutes and it's a cause of concern for Telangana exhibitors who have been waiting for percentage system over rental system for over a decade,"

Another exhibitor shared "I would have got 3 lakhs out of Rs 6 lakhs collections of Chennai Love Story in percentage system. However, we had to be content with Rs 1, 20,000 rent and imagine the losses of other single screens in Telangana state on just one film, "

Film Chamber's veteran member says "If bigwigs like Suresh Babu, Sunil Narang, Sashidhar Reddy and Sirish Reddy attend the meetings without fail, then it would be helpful for exhibitors. If any of them skip panel meetings then it would be difficult to push the case of percentage over rental basis, "

He concluded "Ticket prices are key for audience turnout and I hope producers and distributors realise this and stop seeking ticket rates hike. Then exhibitors in Telangana can breath a sigh of relief,'
