Naga Chaitanya is trying something new after Thandel, and fans are already curious. He will be seen as a treasure hunter for the first time in his upcoming film Vrushakarma. The actor spoke about his role recently and said he plays Arjun, a character he has not done before. He mentioned that he looked at a lot of Hollywood films for reference because Indian cinema has very few treasure hunter roles. According to him, the shoot is 90% done and the team is looking at an August to October window for release.
To get into the skin of Arjun, Naga Chaitanya trained for four months. The workshops helped him pick up the raw, physical body language a treasure hunter needs. The film is also heavy on VFX, so he spent a lot of time shooting on green screens. He found the process challenging but exciting. Fans of Virupaksha are extra keen because Vrushakarma is directed by Karthik Varma Dandu, the director of Blockbuster Virupaksha and the screenplay is by Sukumar.
Vrushakarma is being produced by BVSN Prasad under Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra along with Sukumar Writings. Meenakshi Chaudhary plays the female lead and Sparsh Shrivastava has an important role too. The technical team is solid with Ajaneesh Loknath on music, Ragul Dharuman as DOP, and Naveen Nooli handling the edit. The movie blends mythology with action and has a supernatural angle.
The story follows a mythical protector who takes on evil forces, so expect high stakes and big visuals. The makers plan to drop promo content soon and lock the release for 2026. Social media is already buzzing with first-look rumors, and Chay’s fans feel this could be a fresh genre shift for him after Thandel.
