A huge pan-India film is quietly taking shape, and the names involved are already creating a storm. Rana Daggubati is reportedly reuniting with Karthikeya 2 director Chandoo Mondeti for a high-scale historical thriller set in the ancient city of Ujjain. The twist? Akshay Kumar is also expected to join the cast, with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions backing the project. The combo itself is rare, a Telugu star known for Baahubali, a Bollywood superstar, and a director who cracked the myth-meets-mystery formula with Karthikeya 2. No official announcement yet, but trade circles are buzzing.

The story is said to blend history, mythology, and suspense, using Ujjain’s deep spiritual and cultural backdrop as its canvas. Chandoo Mondeti has been scaling up since Thandel, and this looks like his biggest leap yet, from Telugu hits to a full-blown pan-India spectacle. Akshay and Rana have worked together before in Baby and Housefull 4, so the comfort level is there. Reports also hint at a third top hero joining for a cameo or extended role, which could turn this into a proper multi-starrer event. Akshay is currently in theatres with the horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, while Rana is rumored to be part of Jai Hanuman, the sequel to HanuMan.

With Karan Johar producing under Dharma, you can expect big budgets, lavish visuals, and a wide release plan. Sources say the film is in pre-production, with a traditional muhurat planned soon and a pan-India release strategy across Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and other languages. The idea is to bridge South storytelling with Bollywood’s commercial scale, something Dharma has been actively chasing post-Brahmastra. Chandoo Mondeti’s track record with mythological thrillers gives this project solid ground, and Rana leading it adds serious weight. Akshay’s involvement brings the North market instantly.

If it all comes together, this could be one of the most talked-about films of the next two years. The Ujjain setting, the history-meets-thriller angle, and three major names from different industries make it a true crossover attempt. Nothing is signed on paper publicly yet, and all sides are keeping details under wraps. But the chatter in Mumbai and Hyderabad is loud, Karan Johar, Chandoo Mondeti, Rana Daggubati, Akshay Kumar, that’s a lineup that automatically raises expectations. An official announcement is likely once the cast and crew are locked, and fans are already calling it a “pan-India event film” on social media.
