Dacoit, starring Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur, has crossed ₹50 crore worldwide within its first week despite tough competition from the IPL season and the strong run of Dhurandhar 2. Made on a ₹60 crore budget, the film’s performance is being called notable for a crowded release window. Producers reported a ₹40 crore opening weekend, with steady weekday collections suggesting Dacoit is on course to recover costs quickly. The film also secured a spot in the USA box office top 10 during its opening days, and has already crossed break-even status at the US box office with $1.1 million, highlighting its strong overseas reach.

Adivi Sesh has played down speculation over the Dacoit box office race, saying his priority is to ensure producers are safe and the film is made with integrity. He noted that external factors like IPL and competing releases are beyond control, drawing parallels to how his earlier film Major succeeded despite clashes. While some questioned early ‘blockbuster’ tags, Adivi Sesh dismissed such talk, focusing instead on honesty in filmmaking over chasing records.

Well-known names in the industry, including Allu Aravind and actor Nani, have publicly lauded Dacoit, with Nani calling it a ‘true BLOCKBUSTER’ and praising Adivi Sesh’s performance as his best to date. Such endorsements lend credibility to the film’s reception and help counter scepticism about early celebratory claims. This support could help maintain audience engagement as Dacoit continues its theatrical run. The strong world of mouth, combined with the ₹50 crore worldwide gross in week one, indicates the film could retain audience interest going forward.

Originally set for March 19, Dacoit was moved to April 10 to sidestep a direct clash with Dhurandhar 2, which was drawing large audiences. Even with the shift, it contended with the rival film’s ongoing run but still delivered ₹22.5 crore net in India over its opening weekend. Created in both Telugu and Hindi, Dacoit retained its Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka backdrop, aiming to connect with varied audiences while keeping its setting authentic.
