Kvn Productions is going through a tough phase as three of its big-budget films face major hurdles. Jana Nayagan starring Thalapathy Vijay, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups with Yash, and KD: The Devil led by Dhruva Sarja are all battling censorship issues, delays, controversy, and piracy. A close associate of Kvn Productions reveal that the banner is in a difficult phase but remains committed to releasing all three films on a grand scale.
The Kannada-based production house had lined up these projects as pan-India tentpoles, but unexpected setbacks have impacted schedules and business plans. Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, was planned as one of the biggest Tamil releases of 2026 and widely seen as Vijay’s final film before his full-time political entry. It was set for a Pongal release on January 9, 2026, and the trailer broke records with 83.7 million views in 24 hours. Mounted on a Rs 300-500 crore budget, its digital rights were initially sold to Amazon Prime Video for Rs 120 crore.
However, the film hit trouble with the CBFC over “politically sensitive” content. The case went to the Madras High Court and later the Supreme Court, which refused to intervene. The revising committee also suggested an Election Commission review. Reports say Amazon Prime Video has now backed out due to release uncertainty. The biggest blow came on April 10, 2026, when the entire film leaked online in HD, causing huge losses. Kvn Productions warned of legal action, six people have been arrested, and over 300 piracy links were removed. Stars like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Suriya, R Madhavan, and Rishab Shetty condemned the piracy.
Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has also seen multiple delays. First planned for April 2025, it was moved to March 19, 2026, and postponed again weeks before release. Kvn Productions cited the Iran-Israel conflict and international market strategy as reasons, with a new release date set for June 4, 2026. An insider said, “We postponed the film from a pan-world perspective. Toxic has now created a huge international market. Releasing it in multiple languages will bring bigger business.” Industry insiders, however, believe pending production work and competition could be additional factors.
KD: The Devil, starring Dhruva Sarja and directed by Prem, faced backlash over the song Sarse Ninna Seraga Sarse for alleged obscenity. After protests and Parliament discussions, the song was taken down from YouTube. Prem apologized and said he would rewrite and re-upload it. The film also faces certification delays. The regional board suggested an ‘A’ certificate with minor changes, but the central board sent it to the revising committee. Despite legal battles, piracy, and certification hurdles, Kvn Productions plans to stick to its release commitments for Jana Nayagan, Toxic, and KD: The Devil in 2026.adhu Vamsi shot to fame with Committee Kurrollu and expectations are high on this project.
