Varun Dhawan Double Trouble With Mrunal Thakur And Pooja Hegde

The first look of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai was unveiled on Tuesday, April 14, and it promises a fun-filled ride packed with romance and comedy. Starring Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde, the film marks director David Dhawan’s return to his signature rom-com style. The Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai first look opens on a quirky note with two AI-generated toddlers discussing their parents.

As they compare notes, they realize their mothers are different but their father might be the same man. The video then introduces Varun Dhawan as Jass, a stylish and fun-loving character caught between two love interests: Baani played by Mrunal Thakur and Preet played by Pooja Hegde.  

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai sets up a classic love triangle with a comic twist that fans of David Dhawan films will instantly recognize. Adding to the nostalgia, the first look features a contemporary version of the hit track Ishq Sona Hai. The original song was picturized on Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen in Biwi No 1, released in 1999 and also directed by David Dhawan. 

The project marks Varun Dhawan’s first on-screen pairing with both Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde.  It is also Varun Dhawan’s fourth collaboration with his father David Dhawan after Main Tera Hero, Judwaa 2, and Coolie No 1. The supporting cast of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai includes Chunky Pandey, Maniesh Paul, Jimmy Sheirgill, and Mouni Roy, adding more comic power to the ensemble. It was earlier planned for June 5, then moved to June 12. However, the team has now preponed it to May 22, 2026.
