Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi's Ramayana directed by Nitesh Tiwari is the cynosure of all eyes. The film made with a whopping budget in two parts has an ensemble cast. The film's first part is releasing on Diwali 2026 and the second part on Diwali 2027.

The makers recently  released the teaser and it is getting trolled for the substandard VFX and also for Ranbir Kapoor's look. In the midst of huge criticism, Ramayana makers promised not to hurt the sentiments of the people.

Nitesh Tiwari says  “As a creator, you are very well aware of certain do’s and don’ts; you can’t go wrong. We have stuck to that. Wherever you are not supposed to take any creative leap, we have not taken any creative leap. But wherever you can take a leap of faith, we have gone ahead and done that. I myself am an avid follower of Ramayana. If I’m not hurting my own feelings, if I’m happy with the work which I’m doing, I’m pretty sure that a lot of the audience will agree with me.”

He added “See at the heart, it’s always the emotions. Ramayana is the story about morals, about principles, about relationships, about people. And that’s what’s going to remain at the core. What the visual effects and what the spectacle is gonna do is going to make it look even more beautiful, even more presentable, even more engaging. So that the audience can see the same story they have seen in the past in a completely new light,”

He also shared details about the role of Ravana. He said  “Ravana had so many aspects to his life. He was a great warrior, he was an accomplished musician, a scholar, a benevolent king, so much more…a great Shiva devotee. So there was so much more to him than just being one black character.”

He continued  “It’s very important for us to showcase all these bits, all these aspects of Ravana, because there’s a very important lesson which is hiding in there. You can have all these great qualities, but if you are governed by vengeance and if you’re driven by ego, then you know what the end result is going to be,”

Even producer Namit Malhotra says  “It is not just India; this is a production that maps any big, large-scale project in the world at this time. So it is fair to say that we are shoulder to shoulder with anything out there. That being said, whether it's Lord of the Rings or Avatar, it is important to note that Ramayana actually precedes a lot of these global IPs and global epics.”

He continued, “For us, bringing this story to life in front of the world… it is an absolute must that everything we do is woven into the narrative and story of the spectacle. It's meant to give you the same sense of scale and epic like The Lord of the Rings, but it's supposed to have the same heart and the same journey as Avatar. Because the word Avatar comes from an Indian word ‘Avtar’, which is exactly what Lord Ram is, he is the Avtar of Lord Vishnu. That is the story of Ramayana, so it speaks to the epics that were mentioned; it is very fundamental to the structure of what Ramayana actually is.”
