Salman Khan's highly anticipated war drama Maatrubhumi is unlikely to hit theaters in May due to ongoing censorship and approval issues. The film, originally titled Battle of Galwan, is based on the India-China clash at Galwan Valley
The film which was initially titled as Battle Of Galwan has undergone significant changes, including reshoots and a title change, after the Ministry of Defence requested a fictionalized approach to avoid tampering with diplomatic relations.
The film's producer faced pressure to modify the story, and Salman Khan reportedly reshot 40% of the film, adding more romance and a backstory to his character. The war drama, which marks Khan's collaboration with director Apoorva Lakhia, now has a potential June release date, pending approvals.
While Maatrubhumi faces delays, Salman Khan is gearing up for his next project with producer Dil Raju, slated for a 2027 release. He's also working on a superhero film with Raj Nidimoru & Krishna Dasarakothapalli, which kicks off in August. Khan is reportedly losing weight and transforming his look for the Vamshi Paidipally-directed movie.
