Important decision by Telangana Exhibitors. For long the single screen theatres have been facing existential crisis and question marks over their future with virtually no revenue and profits due to dismal performances of the films and the waning interest among people to come to them with numerous multiplexes.

To the top of it, the rental system added to their woes. Some theatres even went to the extent of going on a strike to force the Tollywood biggies to address the issue.

In the midst of all this, 23 theatres have opted for a policy shift from rental system to percentage-based screening from April 3, 2026. As per new terms the distributors will get the following percentage on NETT. Big films will get an additional share of 2.5%-5% on the condition that ticket Rates are hiked.

New terms:

• Week 1 – 60%

• Week 2 – 50%

• Week 3 – 40%

This move aims to ensure survival of single screens and prevent closures, aligning with a broader South Indian consensus.
