CM, Defence Minister, and Minister Lokesh Lay Foundation For AMCA Project In Puttaparthi

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Minister Nara Lokesh laid the foundation stone for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft AMCA project in Puttaparthi. The project is worth Rs 15,803 crore and will create around 7,500 direct jobs. This fifth-generation stealth fighter project is led by DRDO and ADA, and will be built with support from HAL and private defence firms. The Puttaparthi facility will focus on design, testing, and key systems for the AMCA. Officials say the project will boost India’s self-reliance in defence and cut imports of advanced fighter jets. Work on the first prototype is expected to start soon, with the first flight planned by 2028 and induction by 2035.
Along with AMCA, the leaders also launched other defence and drone projects in the upcoming Drone City near Puttaparthi. The area is being developed as a major hub for aerospace, UAVs, and defence manufacturing. Multiple MoUs were signed with private companies to set up units for drone tech, avionics, and missile parts. The state government has allotted large land parcels and promised fast clearances to attract investment. This move is part of Andhra Pradesh’s plan to build a defence corridor and create over 25,000 jobs in the next few years.
At the event, CM Chandrababu Naidu, Rajnath Singh, and Lokesh visited an exhibition of defence products. They saw missiles, hand grenades, modern guns, and a prototype of the new fighter jet. DRDO and several startups displayed UAVs, anti-drone systems, and next-gen weapon models. The leaders spoke about making India a global hub for defence exports and using new tech for security.
The AMCA will be India’s first indigenous stealth aircraft with advanced radar, supercruise, and AI-based systems. With this foundation event, Puttaparthi is set to become a key centre for India’s aerospace growth.
