AP Exhibitors Ask For 20% Cut From Hiked Ticket Rates To Survive High Costs

Theatre owners in Andhra Pradesh have asked the government for a 20% share from hiked ticket prices. A group of exhibitors met Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh and gave a proposal. They say the extra money from ticket hikes should also go to theatres, not just producers and distributors.
The idea is to help cinema halls manage high running costs. Many exhibitors feel this change can save theatres that are under money pressure. The main reason for this request is rising expenses. Electricity bills, AC maintenance, staff salaries, and daily upkeep have become very costly. Some multiplexes in AP are paying close to 15 lakh rupees per month just for AC power bills.
Single-screen theatres are also finding it hard to meet costs. Theatre owners say that without extra support, it is tough to give good facilities to the audience. Exhibitors have now asked Minister Kandula Durgesh to take this issue to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. They want a quick and positive decision. This topic is now a big talking point in the Telugu film industry.
People in the trade say if the government agrees, it can change how ticket money is shared in the state. For now, all eyes are on the government’s reply. A fair decision can help theatres stay open and keep the movie-going experience strong in Andhra Pradesh.
