Tamil superstar Vijay has made a huge entry into politics with his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, also called TVK. In the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections, Vijay shocked everyone by winning 108 seats in his very first try. To form the government the party needs 118 seats out of 234. Vijay has already sent a letter to the Tamil Nadu Governor asking for a chance to form the government.

He said he will prove his majority in two weeks. People across the state are talking about this big win. Social media is full of videos of TVK celebrations and many fans are calling it a new chapter for Tamil Nadu. The most special part is Vijay’s vote share. TVK got 34.92 percent votes in its first election. This is more than what M G Ramachandran got in 1977. MGR had won 130 seats with 30.4 percent votes back then.

So Vijay has beaten the legend in vote percentage. When you look at other actor politicians, N T Rama Rao had 46.3 percent in 1983, Chiranjeevi got 16.32 percent in 2009, Vijayakanth had 8.4 percent in 2006, Pawan Kalyan got 5.53 percent in 2019, and Kamal Haasan got 2.52 percent in 2021. This shows how big Vijay’s debut is. Political experts say no other new party has made such a strong start in recent times.

For many years Tamil Nadu politics was mostly about DMK and AIADMK. Now Vijay’s entry has changed the game. His rallies had huge crowds and young people supported him a lot. His social media campaigns were very strong and reached every corner of the state. He announced his political entry in 2023 and worked hard to build the party in all districts. His clean image and fan following helped TVK turn movie love into real votes.

Now all eyes are on whether Vijay can get the extra seats to reach 118 and become Chief Minister. There is talk that some independents and small parties may support TVK. Party leaders are confident they will form the government soon. Whether he becomes CM or not, one thing is clear. Vijay’s political debut is not just a win, it is history. He has already changed Tamil Nadu politics in one election.
