By Rambabu Updated at: 2026-05-04 15:48:43

Trisha Krishnan is one of the few actresses who has ruled the screen for more than 20 years. She started strong and never slowed down. Even today, she is busy with big films and holds her place at the top. Over the years she picked mature and meaningful roles without losing her charm. It is rare to see an actress keep both stardom and respect for so long. She shows how talent, discipline, and smart choices can build a lasting career.

Early Steps and First Big Hits

Trisha first grabbed attention after winning the Miss Chennai title in 1999. She stepped into films with a small role as Simran’s friend in Jodi. Her debut as a lead came with Mounam Pesiyadhe opposite Suriya in 2002. The same year, Saamy with Vikram made her a known face, and Lesa Lesa made her a favorite with the youth. Her career changed completely in 2004 with Varsham opposite Prabhas. The film was a blockbuster in Telugu and made her a star overnight. After that, there was no looking back for her.

Becoming a Pan-South Star

Ghilli with Vijay made Trisha a top star in Tamil. In Telugu, Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana and Athadu with Mahesh Babu turned her into a household name. She won Filmfare Awards for Best Actress in Telugu for Varsham, Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, and Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule. She also stepped into Bollywood with Khatta Meetha opposite Akshay Kumar. Her work in Abhiyum Naanum, released as Aakasamantha in Telugu, won a lot of praise. She played the lead role with great ease and showed her range as an actress.

Second Innings and Strong Comeback

Trisha gave herself a fresh start with Gautham Menon’s Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, called Ye Maaya Chesave in Telugu, with Simbu. The film proved why she stands apart from others in her generation. She has worked with almost every big star in Tamil and Telugu, from Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Ajith, and Vijay to Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, and Pawan Kalyan. She surprised everyone by playing a negative role in Kodi, released as Dharma Yogi in Telugu, with Dhanush. Then came 96 with Vijay Sethupathi. Her role as Jaanu became iconic and won her another Filmfare Award for Best Actress in Tamil. More recently, she played Princess Kundavai with grace and power in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 1 and 2. She was also seen with Vijay in Leo and is now part of Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life.
