Director Apoorva Lakhia revealed that the title change wasn't an overnight decision. "From the start, we had registered two titles- Battle of Galwan and Maatrubhumi," he said. As the film progressed, they realized it was never just about a battle, but about humanity, empathy, and the silent battles soldiers fight.

The new title captures the film's emotion and sacrifice, reflecting the soul of the story. There's also a song in the film with the same name, which has received love from audiences, making the title feel even more right.

Maatrubhumi, co-starring Chitrangda Singh, faced controversy earlier due to claims of distorting facts and fuelling anti-China sentiment. The film aims to portray courage, sacrifice, and resilience, and was initially scheduled for release on April 17, but has reportedly been postponed.

The film tells the story of Indian Army officer Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, who lost his life during the Galwan Valley clash. The conflict strained India-China relations, resulting in 20 Indian Army personnel losing their lives.
