Cbfc is merciless regarding name changes of small films. Of late Cbfc is cracking its whip on small films and is insisting on name changes and many feel that in the current circumstances it doesn't want to take any chances of fringe groups protesting against films regarding names of the titles alleging hurt sentiments.

Cbfc insisted on the changes of the titles of Hey Bhagawan,  Chai Wala and Vanara. They were changed to Hey Balwanth, Nawab's Cafe and Vana Veera. Now Saraswati name is changed to S.Saraswati.

Cbfc feels that as the above titles refer to Gods, any misuse and misrepresentation may hurt the sentiments and lead to protests. However, producers and directors differ with the Cbfc saying it is curtailing the creative freedom. The last minute changes of the film titles, land producers in increasing of expenses as they have to come with new posters and take the film into the people with new title and this may impact the film's overall performance.

Some say that it is better that the makers should be extra careful while deciding on the film title to avoid last minute shocks from the Censor Board. Now one is not clear whether one can use the names of Gods for the film titles or not. Earlier films like Hanu Man and now Jai Hanman is coming. The question is whether Censor Board will crack the whip if the film's titles involve top stars films and top banners.
