Rumours About Ilaiyaraaja Biopic Director Change

The Ilaiyaraaja biopic, starring Dhanush, was announced in March 2024, with Arun Matheswaran initially set to direct. However, rumors surfaced that Arun Matheswaran was no longer part of the project, prompting an official clarification from Dhanush's team. According to the statement, Matheswaran is still on board to direct the biopic, which will proceed as planned. 

The film's pre production work is complete, and shooting is expected to begin in April 2027, after Arun wraps up his current project, DC, with Lokesh Kanagaraj. Dhanush will play Ilaiyaraaja, with music composed by the maestro himself. The biopic promises to be a significant cinematic event, exploring Ilaiyaraaja's life and career. 

Meanwhile, Dhanush has signed another biopic, portraying Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, directed by Om Raut, expected to start shooting in late 2027 or 2028. With two high profile biopics in the pipeline, Dhanush is gearing up for an intense phase in his career.
