AMB Kapali Bengaluru A Location Conundrum

Mahesh Babu's Amb Cinemas Kapali, launched in Bengaluru's Majestic area, is facing challenges in attracting audiences, with some attributing it to the location. The multiplex, opened on January 16, boasts nine screens, including South India's first Dolby Cinema screen, and offers state-of-the-art facilities.

Industry observers agree that Majestic, a crowded commercial area with heavy traffic, isn't ideal for a premium multiplex. In contrast, areas like Malleshwaram, Rajajinagar, and Sadashivanagar have better catchment areas. The location has led to lower occupancies, prompting the multiplex to offer free refreshments to attract viewers.

The iconic Kapali theatre, which stood on the site for 49 years, was razed in 2017 and has been reborn as Amb Cinemas Kapali. Mahesh Babu's venture aims to replicate the success of Amb Hyderabad, but the Bengaluru location poses significant challenges. 

With premium multiplexes thriving in IT areas, Amb Kapali's future hinges on its ability to adapt to the local market. Unlike Amb Cinemas Hyderabad which is top go-to destination for movie lovers for its cutting edge technology, B Bengaluru struggles mainly due to its location.
