Sivakarthikeyan's latest film, Parasakthi, kicked off its release weekend with an impressive ₹11.50 crore collection on day one across India. The movie drew big crowds to theaters, thanks to strong buzz and director Sudha Kongara's blend of ambitious storytelling and heartfelt moments. Packed theaters and strong audience turnout marked the film's opening day, with a solid 62.79% occupancy rate for Tamil shows.
Parasakthi saw morning screenings start at 45.71%, climb through the afternoon and evening, and reach a high of 79.04% at night. Starring Sivakarthikeyan alongside Ravi Mohan and Sreeleela, the film features a talented ensemble cast. The period action entertainer is set against the backdrop of the 1960s anti-Hindi agitations in Tamil Nadu.
The film is expected to arrive on OTT platforms within the next two months, with ZEE5 acquiring its digital premiere rights. However, a specific release date is yet to be announced. Parasakthi was initially scheduled to hit screens on January 14 but was moved up to January 10 due to a delay in censor certification for Vijay's Jana Nayagan.
Directed and co-written by Sudha Kongara, Parasakthi underwent a major change during production. Originally titled Purananooru with Suriya in the lead role, it was later rebranded with Sivakarthikeyan taking over. The film also stars Sreeleela, Ravi Mohan, and Atharvaa Murali, with GV Prakash composing the music. The movie has received mixed reviews.
