Kantara1, Mahavatar Narasimha, Tanvi enters best film race for Oscars 2026. India's quest for the Oscars in the best feature film category reached a huge boost when films like Kantara1, Mahavatar Narasimha, Tanvi joined the official entry Homebound.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science (AMPAS) revealed the 201 eligible films that directly qualify for the prestigious Best Picture race,

The Oscar contention list refers to the initial eligibility stage of the Academy Awards. At this stage, filmmakers who meet the Academy's criteria can submit their films for consideration across various categories. The process involves fulfilling eligibility requirements, paying the necessary fees, and formally submitting the film so it can be reviewed by Academy members for potential nomination.

However, it is important to note that being part of the General Entry List does not guarantee an Oscar nomination. The list of 201 films also includes high-profile Hollywood titles such as Avatar: Fire and Ash, Jurassic World Rebirth, F1, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, The Naked Gun, Americana, Final Destination: Bloodlines.

Meanwhile, Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound, starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor, has already achieved a significant feat by making it to the 15-film shortlist for the Best International Feature Film category.
