Distributors demanding Boyapati compensation for Akhanda Thaandavam losses. Natasimha Balakrishna's Akhanda Thaandavam directed by Boyapati Srinu which released across the country in various languages amidst huge expectations turned out to be a huge disaster.
Expectations increased as the film was the sequel to Akhanda which turned out to be a blockbuster. After Akhanda blockbuster, the makers turned Akhanda Thaandavam into grandier, shored up the budget and turned it into a pan India entertainer. However, all their hopes of the magic of Akhanda with Akhanda Thaandavam turned out to be false.
Following the result, the distributors now are demanding Boyapati Srinu for the compensation for the losses. Akhanda Thaandavam did huge pre release business in Andhra and Nizam. Nizam , Ceded and Andhra rights were sold for 20crs, 20crs and 40crs respectively and in Telugu states it did 80crs pre release business. In Karnataka, Hindi and other states it did 10crs and overseas it did another 12.5crs business and overall did Rs 103crs pre release business.
It started the journey with Rs104 crs breakeven and though in Nizam it fared better, the distributors did not suffer much losses as it grossed around Rs 20crs. In Ceded it grossed Rs 12 crs and another Rs14 crs it should recover and with the theatrical run ending , distributors are on the verge of suffering loses.
The distributors met Boyapati Srinu and told him their situation as in Andhra Pradesh they suffered more than 50% losses. Boyapati after hearing their concern promised to return back the amount with GST.
