Aanand L Rai, director of Tere Ishk Mein, has responded to the backlash against his latest film, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon. The movie has been criticized for its portrayal of violence and toxic masculinity, but Rai remains unapologetic, stating he's "prepared" for the criticism and doesn't feel the need to defend himself or change anything about the film.

"I made my film exactly the way I wanted to," Rai told. "I don't listen to what people have to say. I listen only to my heart." He added that he's grateful for the freedom to express himself and is proud of his work, including Tere Ishk Mein, which belongs to his "dark intense world".

The film has received mixed reviews from audiences, with some praising Dhanush and Sanon's performances, while others were shocked by the plot and second half. AR Rahman's music has also divided fans. Critics argue that the film romanticizes toxic love and hyper masculine aggression, sparking debates about the impact of such portrayals on society.

Rai's perspective is that his films reflect the world we live in, and he's not responsible for changing societal norms. "Even if I make four films on Swami Vivekanand, society will not change," he said. The film's themes and characters have sparked intense discussions, with some labeling it a "toxic tale of male entitlement".
