Suriya Karuppu Clears OTT Hurdle Paving Way for Release

Suriya's upcoming film Karuppu has overcome a major obstacle, with the OTT deal reportedly finalized. The film, directed by RJ Balaji, was initially planned for a Diwali release but faced delays due to pending non-theatrical deals. The makers had quoted big prices for the film, which OTT platforms were hesitant to agree to.

Karuppu is a crucial film for Suriya, who is currently in a lull phase in his career. A successful release could give him the much-needed boost he's looking for, ahead of his next project, a Tamil-Telugu bilingual film directed by Venky Atluri. The film features Suriya and Trisha in the lead roles, and its courtroom-driven narrative has generated significant buzz.

With the OTT deal out of the way, the makers are expected to announce the release date soon. According to reports, Netflix has acquired the digital streaming rights, although the official announcement is yet to be made. Karuppu is Suriya's 45th film and is being produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, known for their content rich hits.

A major early 2026 release is on the cards probably for Pongal, and if the buzz is to be believed, Karuppu could be the hit Suriya needs to revive his fortunes. With a strong supporting cast, including Natty, Swasika, and Yogi Babu, the film is poised to make a significant impact at the box office.
