Raju weds Rambai story revolves around two youngsters in a village falling in love and what happens when the girl's father opposes it.
Raju (Akhil Uddemari) leads his life running band in his village and he falls in love with an attractive girl Rambai (Tejaswi Rao). But their love life hits a roadblock when her father, a government compounder Venkanna (Chaitu Jonnalagadda) plans only for a government job holder.
How this changes the lives of Raju's father Ramesh (Sivaji Raja), mother Susheela (Kavitha Srirangam), Rambai's mother Pushpa (Anitha Chowdhary) and others form rest of the narration.
Akhil Uddemari's showed good emotions and expressions and impressed with his screen presence. He is good at his dialogue delivery.
Tejaswini Rao looked good in the role of an innocent lover who gets crushed between father and boyfriend. She made her presence felt on the screen.
Chaitu Jonnalagadda did well in the role of the father of the girl. He looked good as a person with disability and who suffers from inferiority complex. He emoted well on the screen and came up with good body language.
Sivaji Raja is good in the role of protagonist's father. Anitha Chowdary, Kavitha Srirangam performed well in mothers' roles.
Raju Weds Rambai story is written by Saailu Kaampati. He drew inspiration from real life incidents and came up with an emotional love story in the village backdrop to captivate all.
He starts the narration introducing various characters and all these are done in a natural manner. The lead pair falling in love also goes in a usual trope and the exception is the heroine's father who is shown with a disability. After the blossoming of love and the opposition and the subsequent developments, the first half ends with an interesting interval block.
The second half is loaded with powerful emotions and the intense climax with a twist is landed and provided the shock value. For all the emotions and powerful performances, at times one gets a feeling that it gets overboard. The story's wafer thin and repetitive scenes also hinder the experience somewhat. But, the climax twist and lead pair's realistic performances bring emotional depth.
Music of Suresh Bobbili is good. Songs are situational and has village beats. The background score elevated the scenes to the next level. Wajid Baig's Cinematography is good. He showed the village atmosphere in a realistic and natural way capturing the locations in a appealing way. The editing of Naresh Adupa left a lot to be desired. There are many scenes and repetitive elements that dragged the pace of the narration. Dialogues are ok and production values are decent.
Altogether, Raju Weds Rambai is a simple, heartfelt rural love story that tries to touch the audience with its raw emotions and village vibe. Director Saailu Kaampati brings a genuine rustic backdrop and gets honest performances from his actors. Yes, a few scenes feel repetitive and some moments go a bit over the top, but the emotional scenes and the powerful, haunting climax make the film memorable. With both the good and the weak sides put together, Cinejosh goes with a 2.5 rating for Raju Weds Rambai.
