Veteran actor Raveena Tandon has been cast as Heeraben Modi, mother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the upcoming multilingual biopic Maa Vande. The film was announced on Modi’s birthday, 17 September, and will be directed by Kranthi Kumar Ch, produced by Silver Cast Creations under producer Veer Reddy, with Unni Mukundan portraying PM Modi.
A source close to the production told Bollywood Hungama that Tandon was drawn to the character’s strength and depth. “The strength, depth, and the arc of the layered character resonated with Raveena,” the source said, adding that Heeraben’s early loss of her mother, her role in holding the family together, and her calm fortitude motivated the actor to sign on.
Maa Vande focuses predominantly on the mother‑son relationship, chronicling the sacrifices, resilience, and contributions Heeraben made to shape Modi’s life. Tandon expressed fascination with this element and is preparing for a complete transformation before shooting begins.
The film is being produced on a grand scale with advanced VFX technology, aiming to explore lesser‑known familial roots and highlight the mother’s pivotal influence on the Prime Minister’s journey.
