More than 31 crushed to death at Vijay Rally. Thalapathi Vijay is currently on a mission campaigning and strengthening his party TVK ahead of the upcoming elections in Tamil Nadu and he is locking horns with the powerful political parties, the ruling DMK and opposition AIADMK.

He organised a rally in Karur and being a weekend and as he enjoys tremendous support among masses. This resulted in a huge stampede leading to more than 50 seriously injured and 31 crushed to death.

Tragedy occurred as people rushed towards the stage breaking the barricades resulting in many children and people getting fainted. Volunteers and Police couldn't control the huge crowd. While permission was granted for 30000 people more than 60000 gathered to the rally.

The death toll includes 16 women, nine men and six children, confirmed Tamil Nadu health minister Ma Subramanian. The incident, described as a “stampede-like crush” by the district administration, occurred at Velusamypuram on the Karur–Erode highway, where thousands had gathered for Vijay’s ‘Velicham Veliyeru’ ('Let There Be Light') campaign meeting. He was addressing the audience when chaos broke out, forcing him to halt his speech.

Tamil Nadu CM Stalin will be meeting the victims tomorrow. He expressed his shock at the Tragedy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reacted to the situation, calling it a “deeply saddening” incident on X. Along with Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence minister Rajnath Singh and many other leaders have also reacted to the situation.
