Vijay Antony is known for doing different genre entertainers. His latest film Shakthi Thirumagan directed by Arun Prabu is releasing on Telugu as Bhadrakaali. The film happens to be Vijay Antony's milestone 25th film. The film is a remake of Malayalam film Virunnu. Let us see how the film entertained viewers.
Bhadrakaali story revolves around a youngster who works in the secretariat and the developments surrounding him and how he handles the shocking developments.
Kittu (Vijay Antony) works in the secretariat and he weilds so much influence that he can do anything and everything. However this comes with a cost.
Where this leads to and how he handles it and what role his aide (Maruthi), Abhyankar (Sunil Kriplani), Investing Officers Ram Pandey (Kiran), another officer (Riya Jithu)and others form rest of the developments.
Everyone knows that Vijay Antony chooses different roles and he once again played a unique role. He performed well with in his limitations. Trupthi Ravindra played the female lead and she got minimal scope to showcase her acting talent. She performed well according to her character. Sunil Kriplani came up with an average perfomance in the role of a mastermind who controls the politicians. Kiran did well in the role of a special officer. Riya Jithu played the role of other special officer. Cell Murugan did well as the hero's close aid. Others performed well according to their roles.
The story of Bhadrakali is penned by Arun Prabu. He selected a good concept and established it perfectly on the screen. Few dialogues are good and a powerful take on the Union Government. Arun Prabu selected a story and concept to give a message to the society. However the story has similarities to earlier films like Aparichitudu, Sivaji and Bharateeyudu. While those films came up with few solutions, Arun Prabu just posed questions and left them unanswered.
He selected a different point of political lobbying and narrated it with an interesting manner with good twists and turns. Though he blended with commercial elements, he ensured that these didn't impact the flow of the narration.
Vijay Antony composed the background music and the tunes. They are in sync with the storyline. Cinematography of Shelley R. Calist used camera angles to give natural feel to the realistic thriller. Editing of Raymond Derrick Crasta & Dinsa is ok. Production values are decent.
Altogether, Vijay Antony as usual came up with a different genre role. Arun Prabu came up with a good story. However, everything ended there. The film has all the qualities of a powerful political entertainer but from start to finish, the script failed to inspire confidence. A little fine-tuning of the script and racy narration would have worked wonders. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 2 rating for Bhadrakaali.
