Shilpa Shetty's popular restaurant, Bastian Bandra, is closing its doors amid allegations of a Rs 60 crore fraud case against her and her husband, Raj Kundra. The actress announced the news on her social media handle, sharing an emotional note about the restaurant's final day. According to Shilpa, Thursday will mark the end of an era for Bastian Bandra, a venue that has created countless memories and shaped Mumbai's nightlife.
Although Bastian Bandra is shutting down, Shilpa assured fans that the brand isn't vanishing for good. The Thursday night ritual, Arcane Affair, will continue at Bastian At The Top, offering fresh experiences and renewed energy. The restaurant's co-owner, Ranjit Bindra, and Shilpa had opened Bastian in 2016, and it quickly became a city hotspot known for its seafood centric menu and vibrant nightlife atmosphere.
Allegations Against Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra
The closure comes at a challenging time for Shilpa and Raj Kundra, who are facing allegations of defrauding a Mumbai businessman, Deepak Kothari, of Rs 60.4 crore in a loan-cum-investment deal. According to Kothari, the money was given for business growth but was misappropriated and used for personal expenses. The Economic Offenses Wing has filed a fraud case against the couple.
The couple's lawyer, Prashant Patil, has denied the allegations, calling them "baseless" and stating that the matter is civil in nature and has already been adjudicated by the National Company Law Tribunal in Mumbai. Patil also mentioned that auditors have provided all necessary documents and cash flow statements to the investigating agencies, and appropriate action is being initiated against those making the accusations.
