Rajinikanth's gangster drama "Coolie" has almost concluded it theatrical run and cemented its place in the ₹500 crore club, becoming the fourth Tamil title to achieve this feat. Despite a decline in collections after a terrific opening weekend, the film managed to cross the elite mark, solidifying its position as a major win for the veteran superstar.
With this achievement, Rajinikanth now has three movies in the ₹500 crores club, including "2.0," "Jailer," and "Coolie," making him the only Tamil hero to have this honor. "Coolie" has been performing well at the box office, even after two and a half weeks in cinemas. The film has managed to stay strong, inching closer to the Rs 280 crore mark in India.
The film's success is noteworthy, especially considering it was released alongside Ayan Mukerji's "War 2," starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. The film's global earnings have been impressive, with around ₹175 crore gross earnings coming from the overseas market and ₹328 crore earned through domestic business.
The film's Tamil version has registered a gross close to 200 crores, while the Telugu version has contributed close to 80 crores. The film's success can be attributed to its engaging storyline, impressive performances, and Lokesh Kanagaraj's direction. The film features a star-studded cast, including Rajinikanth, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Nagarjuna, and Soubin Shahir, among others. "Coolie" is expected to arrive on OTT platform Amazon Prime Video in October or November 2025.
