Rajinikanth behind Coolie debacle. Super Star Rajinikanth's Coolie which released amidst huge expectations on 14 Aug 2025 turned out to be a disaster.

The film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj starred Shruti Haasan, Nagarjuna, Upendra in key roles and Pooja Hegde did a special song. Aamir Khan did a cameo in the film. However nothing worked out as the story went for a toss.

Now, following the Coolie debacle, rumours are spreading that Rajinikanth was responsible for Coolie result. Inside talk is Lokesh Kanagaraj came up with a captivating and gripping thriller to elevate and showcase Rajinikanth in a completely different role, but Rajinikanth rejected the story and asked him to come up with something similar to Jailer.

Lokesh Kanagaraj then came up with a different story and included cameos of Nagarjuna and Upendra and another special featuring Aamir Khan. Many felt that had Rajinikanth went ahead with the original script and story of Lokesh Kanagaraj, it would have created a sensation.
