Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi's Ramayana directed by Nitesh Tiwari is generating immense interest among movie lovers. The title launch video increased expectations and the film is releasing in two parts.
In the meantime, Mukesh Khanna speaking to scribes, questioned Ranbir Kapoor's portrayal as Lord Ram in the film. He said “If you provoke, you’ll get into trouble. You are showing Ram as a warrior, but he was the Maryada Purushottam, the ideal man. They’re showing Lord Rama climbing trees and shooting arrows. Krishna or Arjuna might do that, but Rama would not. If Rama declared himself a warrior, he would never have sought the help of monkeys. He was sufficient, one man against Ravana.”
He continued “From what I have seen, I’m not sure if Ranbir Kapoor can carry off the Maryada Purushottam image of Rama. He’s a fine actor, but he has a certain image following him, that of 'Animal'. I have no objection to that; he could certainly do it. But I think if you present Rama as a warrior, people may find it difficult to accept. This could cause some controversy.”
Mukesh Khanna shot to fame with his performance as Bheeshma in BR.Chopra's Mahabharat serial.
