Kamal Haasan Faces Backlash Over Sanatana Dharma Comments

Actor-politician Kamal Haasan has received a death threat from television actor Ravichandran following his recent remarks on Sanatana Dharma. Haasan criticized the central government's National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), calling it an "ill outcome of Sanatana Dharma" during the 15th anniversary celebration of Tamil star Suriya's NGO, Agaram Foundation.

Ravichandran responded with a threatening statement in a YouTube interview, labeling Haasan a "naive politician" and vowing to slit his throat for his comments against Sanatana Dharma. The controversy surrounding Haasan's comments has escalated, with the Tamil Nadu unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) calling for a boycott of his films.

BJP state secretary Amar Prasad Reddy shared a video message on social media, urging Hindus not to watch Haasan's movies, even on OTT platforms, to teach him a lesson for allegedly insulting Sanatana Dharma. Meanwhile, office-bearers of Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) party have filed a complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner against Ravichandran's death threat. Kamal has yet to react publicly to the backlash.
