The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has directed the makers of War 2 to make several changes to the film ahead of its release on August 14, 2025. The board has asked the team to mute six instances of "inappropriate references" throughout the movie, replace an "obscene" dialogue with an approved line, and remove a two-second "obscene" gesture made by a character.

Additionally, the CBFC has instructed the team to tone down the film's sensual content by reducing nine seconds of footage, speculated to be part of Kiara Advani's bikini sequence in the song 'Aavan Jaavan'. Similar thing happened in Pathaan too for Yash Raj Films.

Despite the changes, War 2 is expected to be one of the biggest releases of the year, with its mix of intense action, star power, and gripping storyline. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film stars Hrithik Roshan, NTR, and Kiara Advani in lead roles, and its plot revolves around the clash between two Indian spies with differing views on patriotism.

The film has been granted a U/A 16+ certificate and has a revised runtime of 2 hours, 51 minutes, and 44 seconds after the producers voluntarily trimmed the length further. War 2 is part of Yash Raj Films' Spy Universe, following the 2019 blockbuster War.
