Rana Daggubati's tequila brand Loca Loka, co-founded with Anirudh Ravichander and Sreeharsha Vadlamudi, is all set to make its debut in India this October. The brand will first launch in Dubai in September before entering tier-1 cities across India. According to Anirudh, the aim is to build a global brand by producing original Mexican tequila with complete control over the product.
The co-founders of Loca Loka plan to establish the brand in mature markets before entering India. Rana stated that the brand will be a global entity first, and then it will come to India after being consumed in mature tequila-drinking countries for 12 months. The brand has already experienced significant growth in the US market, thanks to support from the Indian diaspora. Sreeharsha claimed that the brand has seen 10x growth in 2024 in the US and has won several awards, including a gold and silver at the San Francisco Spirits Awards.
In India, Loca Loka plans to start by targeting duty-free stores at airports. The brand has a deal with GMR Airports and will be available at Hyderabad and Delhi airports in a few weeks. The pricing is expected to be competitive with legacy players like Diageo's Don Julio brand, which launched in India earlier this year. The brand will offer two variants, Blanco and Reposado, and is expected to make a significant impact in the Indian market.
Meanwhile, Rana Daggubati has been busy with his acting projects. He was last seen in Rana Naidu Season 2 alongside Daggubati Venkatesh, Surveen Chawla, and Arjun Rampal, which streams on Netflix. He has also collaborated with the makers of Baahubali to present actor Ram Pothineni's upcoming Telugu film. With his tequila brand set to launch in India, Rana's entrepreneurial venture is expected to add to his growing list of projects.
