Akshay Kumar is set to venture into the horror genre with a folklore-based horror project, marking a new direction in his filmography. According to sources, Akshay is discussing the project with director Siddharth Anand, who will produce the film under his Marflix banner. The film is expected to be a large-scale, VFX-heavy horror drama centred on a father-daughter relationship, offering a unique theatrical experience.
The film will be directed by a debutant filmmaker, with Siddharth Anand producing it. Akshay and Siddharth have been exploring potential collaborations since last year, and although they initially discussed a vigilante action drama, the horror film project has garnered Akshay's interest. The film is expected to go on floors early next year, after Akshay completes his current projects, including 'Welcome to the Jungle' and the 'Oppum' remake.
Akshay's upcoming projects also include 'OMG 3' and an ensemble comedy with a director he has collaborated with multiple times. His film 'Housefull 5' is set to release tomorrow, followed by 'Jolly LLB 3' on September 19 and 'Bhoot Bangla' on April 2, 2026. 'Welcome to the Jungle' is also slated for a 2026 release.
The horror film project marks a new genre for Akshay Kumar, who has explored various genres throughout his career but not pure horror. With Siddharth Anand's production expertise and Akshay's strong interest, the film is expected to be a significant addition to Akshay's filmography.
