Kasthuri Raja acts legally after Ilayaraja against GBU

Ajith's Good Bad Ugly directed by Adhik Ravichandran got good response from all quarters. Ajith's fans loved the film as the film brought many fanboy moments as the makers used the yesteryear songs to drive all crazy.

However, this landed the makers in trouble as Ilayaraja sent legal notice for not taking his permission before using his songs. Now, following Ilayaraja, Kasturi Raja, father of Dhanush also sent legal notice to the makers for not seeking his permission.

He said that three songs – Panju Mitthai, Otha Ruba Tharen and Thootuvalai Ilai Arachi – from his films were used without his consent in recent films. He shared “Unlike when stalwarts like Ilaiyaraaja and Deva created timeless music, today’s creators seem to rely on nostalgia rather than innovation. It’s not an issue to use old tracks, but one must seek permission from the original creators. Unfortunately, no one bothers to ask these days,”

However, the makers earlier claimed that they have got permission from everyone. Producer Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers,shared “We have taken permission from all the music labels required for the songs we used in the film. The labels hold the rights, so we have followed protocol and taken NOCs from them. We have done things by the book,”
