Manchu Vishnu on Kannappa controversy, runtime and Prabhas role. Manchu Vishnu is coming up with a devotional entertainer Kannappa. The film directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh of Mahabharat fame is slated for a grand release on 27 June 2025.
Vishnu is promoting the film in a prestigious manner adopting unique strategies. It is known that Pan India Star Prabhas is playing a powerful cameo in the film. Now, speaking to scribes, Vishnu spoke about Kannappa controversy, runtime and Prabhas role.
Speaking about the controversy he said few people are objecting to a scene where Kannappa worships Lord Shiva by pouring water on Shiv Linga from his mouth. He said he had shown the scene to the priests of Sri Kala Hasti and they did not object and made clear that before proceeding ahead with the film, they got the script scrutinised by the top priests and religious heads of Sri Kala Hasti and other places.
Speaking about the film's runtime, he said the film's runtime is locked at 3hours 10 minutes. He said after all the extensive editing, the final runtime stood at this. Speaking about Prabhas role, he said he will be seen in the role which plays key role in the transformation of Kannappa as the devotee. He said Prabhas has over 30 minute’s screen time and has scenes with him as well as his dad Mohan Babu.
He said Malayalam actor Mohan Lal also has a powerful and impactful role and his role duration is 15 minutes. The film stars Akshay Kumar in the role of Lord Shiva and Kajal Agarwal as Goddess Parvathi. The film also stars Mohan Babu,, Sarathkumar, Arpit Ranka, Kaushal Manda, Rahul, Madhu, Devraj, Mukesh Rishi, Brahmanandam, and Madhoo in key roles with Preity Mukundan playing the female lead.
