Kannada Actor Darshan Summoned by Court

A local court in T. Narasipura has summoned Kannada actor Darshan and his wife Vijayalaxmi to appear before the court on July 4 in connection with the alleged illegal possession of four bar-headed geese at their farmhouse. The bar-headed goose is a rare migratory bird native to the Middle East, and the actor's possession of the birds has raised concerns about wildlife conservation. The forest authorities discovered the birds during a raid at Darshan's farmhouse in Kempaiahna Hundi, near Mysuru city, after a viral video of the actor with the birds prompted an investigation.

The Forest Department registered a case against Darshan and others involved, alleging illegal possession of the birds. The actor's admission of having the birds at his farmhouse has further complicated his case. If found guilty, Darshan could face imprisonment for up to three years under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and the Wildlife (Protection) Amendment Act, 2022. The seized birds were later set free into their natural habitat.

He is currently out on conditional bail in the murder case of his fan Renukaswamy, and the prosecution has challenged the grant of bail in the Supreme Court. The actor's farmhouse has been linked to several incidents, including the death of his manager Sridhar.
